An interdepartmental group led by the president's special representative, Bakyt Sydykov, identified around 40 entities with elevated sanctions risk from the end of June onward. Following inspections, 19 of them will be forcibly liquidated.

The banking sector is being cleaned up in parallel. From July to 14 August 2026, state-owned “Eldik Bank” ended relationships with around 109 companies, while a further 20 are in the process of having their accounts closed. “ABank” terminated agreements with 35 companies. The National Bank has strengthened supervision of payment services.

Separately, JSC “EkoIslamicBank” and three Kyrgyz companies were included in the EU's 21st sanctions package; the ban on transactions with the bank has applied since 13 August 2026. The EBRD has already lowered its forecast for Kyrgyz economic growth.

Direct effect on operations: For several years, Kyrgyzstan served as a convenient transit link for settlements. That window is closing quickly. Every transaction structure involving a Kyrgyz counterparty requires the bank and company to be checked before signing, not afterwards.
