Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture set the export duty on wheat for 2–8 September 2026 at 787.5 roubles per tonne (≈ 7.8 euros per tonne). A week earlier, it was 1,012.1 roubles (≈ 10 euros). The duty on maize fell from 607.3 to 406.5 roubles (≈ from 6 to 4 euros), while the duty on barley remains zero.
The duty is “floating” — recalculated every week from an indicative price, meaning the calculated world price published by the ministry itself. It is currently 228.6 dollars per tonne of wheat (≈ 197 euros).
The most important development is still ahead: according to the newspaper Vedomosti, the ministry is preparing a moratorium on the floating duty until the end of the year. The reason is difficulty shipping through the ports of the Azov–Black Sea basin. Introducing the moratorium would immediately reduce the export cost of Russian grain and undermine the competitiveness of Kazakh and European supply.
What to monitor: the decision on the moratorium. It changes the price picture across the entire region, not only in Russia.
